How could it be otherwise, we are passionate about art. And we are lucky to be in a city full of museums and galleries. We suggest a walk through some of the most outstanding museums in the city of Palma.
We started the tour of the museum closest to the Art Palma Hotel. Just 100 meters away is the old Gran Hotel, an imposing modernist building, headquarters of the CaixaForum, with a permanent exhibition of the painter Anglada Camarasa and an intense program of activities and exhibitions.
Nearby, after climbing the stairs to the Plaza Mayor, on Calle Sant Miquel, you can visit the Joan March Foundation museum, which has a great legacy of 20th century Spanish art. In the historic center, the Museum of Mallorca is also of great interest, which allows you not only to contemplate works of art but also to delve into the history of Mallorca through its great archaeological heritage.
Right at the entrance to the Santa Catalina neighborhood, at the end of Passeig Mallorca and next to the Sa Faixina park, the Es Baluard Museum stands on the city’s Renaissance wall. It is a museum of modern and contemporary art, which combines the reflection of new trends with its collection of works by artists such as Joaquín Sorolla, Anglada Camarasa, Joaquim Mir, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró.
The latter had a great connection with the island, as a result of which the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca was created. Its headquarters are in the La Bonanova neighborhood and it houses paintings, sculptures, reflections of the artist and his work studio.
